You may notice in yourself traits you do not appreciate.
If you notice you have low self esteem or you self abandon in various ways for instance.
It may have been astute of you to have low self esteem as a child or to abandon yourself/your sense of self in childhood. These strategies may have kept you safe if you were subjected to adverse childhood experiences such as abuse or neglect.
These are learned behaviours that we can change. Neuroplasticity shows us it is possible at any stage of our lives.
We were not at fault in childhood for adopting any traits or strategies in order to survive.
We can choose as adults now differently if these no longer serve us.
We can choose to reframe these traits in a positive light as a starting point to positive change for ourselves.
