When I’m mindful I’m present I’m in my body, I’m paying attention to what’s going in my external world as well as inside; this is known as interoception.
I am mindfully present with everything I’m doing and I am conscious of my choices that I make.
If I notice that I’m dropping into a stress state, I move myself out of it. I change my physiology and I choose. I am consciously living; I am living a conscious, embodied life.
When my mind is full I am absent from myself and my life. I am not present in the moment and I can feel abandoned and devoid of myself. I’ve noticed recently I can start to have little accidents because I’m not paying attention to my presence, to my embodied, lived experience.
So are you living a mindful life or a mind full, a life with a mind full? Are you present with yourself and engaging in your presence or are you absent from yourself and missing out on the best parts of your life?
