It’s only through direct embodied experience that we can make an informed decision about who we are and then really get to know ourselves
Relying upon the brain is only part of the picture and a skewed one at that, full of external influences and second hand beliefs

So I looked out of the window this morning and it was fog right up to the house. And my brain said oh danger, danger, fog out there, perhaps we shouldn’t go. And I checked in with my body, like I explained in another post previous to this, and my body was up to the job of course. It felt fine, energised, ready for a walk and said what’s the worst that can happen, if we get out and it’s too foggy, come home, but try at least. While my brain wanted to just stay and give up and avoid it.
And here we have again a situation with the brain versus the body.
The brain is just simply a gigantic computer, full of introjections from primary caregivers, beliefs, mindsets that we pick up along the way; a fountain of knowledge, information, a great tool, a fantastic tool of course; I’m not denigrading in the least our brains.
However to know for certain, to know for ourselves, to find a sense of true self, I find it’s important to come back to the body. To drop in, to use the body as an anchor, and use it as a compass, to guide us.
Because it’s only through direct experience that we really get to know ourselves and then can make an informed decision about who we are, what we’re about, what we wish to do, what we don’t wish to do.
Otherwise if we’re relying on the brain. We go back to old beliefs, mindsets, thoughts that we’ve picked up along the way; and until we challenge those, we don’t really know for ourselves what is important to us, what our values are, and how we wish to lead our lives in accordance with those, rather than the external influences which we’ve picked up along the way.
So I invite you to have a think about that, check in with your brain, check in with your body whenever you have a decision to make and see what gives for you.
